A personal project, to really push my graphic design skills. intended to represent a design aesthetic that looks forward, not backward. I didn’t want this to look like a wheeled monument to Akira, Battle Angel Alita, Blade Runner, Gundam, Ghost In The Shell or other cyberpunk tentpoles - as cool as the styles those films and series spawned are, there’s so much referential, derivative design in those spaces (and in aftermarket car culture brands as a whole) pandering to a late-eighties and early-nineties vision of the 21st century that I felt there wasn’t much “future” left in them. I did want to keep the general geometric edginess and boldness of cyberpunk design, but also to polish and refine the look so the result didn’t have that battered patina common to the Blade Runner/Akira neo-noir style.
